开发商Ska Studios旗下的新作《盐和避难所》是一款2D横版动作游戏，本作的灵感来自于《恶魔城》和《黑暗之魂》，游戏看上去非常阴暗，并且充满血腥和暴力。
游戏中玩家可以在圣殿庇护所和NPC对话，召唤同伴加入战斗。和暗黑3一样，只要有人加入你的队伍，游戏中的怪物就会变强许多，角色的治疗技能也会在一定范围内给同伴加血。
除了双打过关，游戏中还加入了PVP模式，玩家可以使用愤怒之蛋来开启，道具可以在雇佣兵处购买。
《盐和避难所》的战斗系统将非常富有深度，单手武器搭配盾或者副手弩多样组合，也可以双持重型武器，每种武器都有各自独特的动作设计，远程攻击也魔法，弓箭系，还可以投掷小刀等道具。当然负重越高对你的速度，回复影响越大，所以防御和敏捷之间的取舍将非常有意
